Thyroid and Disorders in Pregnancy

Subclinical hypothyroidismwithout manifest disease has far reaching implications on pregnancy outcomes. Thyroid disease associated with auto antibodies could be attributable to complications like abortions, preterm deliveries and gestational hypertension and hence would need to be monitored for disease progressions with appropriate supplementation more frequently.

Drugs used to treat hyperthyroidism have their unique pros and cons influencing pregnancy. The recommendations, practical aspects with clinical implications and effects on pregnancy and the fetus will be specifically addressed.

Overall the recent and the relevant regarding Thyroid disorders and pregnancy will be debated by the experts.

The prevalence of diabetes complicating pregnancy is fast increasing in India
